The Feather Gatherers is an occasional U.K. duo for Sharron Kraus (vocals, banjo, harmonium, flute, twigs) and Jonathan Marshall (guitar, vocals, songwriting), also playing into Deerpark. This 7inch presents their only recordings for this project so far.

These two haunted folk songs are exploring the spheres of autumnal melancholy in the countryside. It is a beautiful little object with a nice drawing on its cover. The atmosphere is quite lovely, authentic and warm, the perfect accompaniment for a cup of tea at the end of a rainy Saturday afternoon when you are alone enjoying your loneliness and temporary abandon from the human society. The two songs are very calm and pleasant and make you feel quite well. It is less demanding, haunted and characteristic than the usual solo Sharron Kraus records, but more intimate and comfortable. The voice of Jonathan is quite engaging and you are left finally with the envy of discovering more of his art.

In fact, it’s not very far from the beauty of Peril Hill and from the better parts of Appendix Out / Alasdair Roberts, ten times more subtle than the usual new folk record you are confronted with daily. The way the voices are married is particularly seducing and entrancing.

Highly recommended.
